Hello my name is Norman, I am from Newcastle in the north east of England. I have always felt very passionate about Spain and the Spanish culture. I had studied Spanish for a couple of years in a Spanish class many years ago, but only learned some of the basics. The thing that surprised me the most was that I could not speak or hold a simple conversation. After a long absence I decided to try again. That was when something wonderful happened. I met Anabel. She is from Cordoba in the south of Spain. She is helping to make my dream come true.

My dream is to be able to speak fluent Spanish just like a native, learn about the culture, to be part of it and of course to meet Anabel. Thanks to Anabel I’m on my way to achieving these goals. Since we have started speaking every day I have noticed my improvement. It has also been an amazing experience to see Anabel’s English grow so quickly. We learn a lot from each other with this method, even from our mistakes. We are trying to learn in a more natural way, in a similar way that we learnt our native languages. Learning another language is hard, it takes a lot of time and dedication, and there are days when you feel you will never learn it, there are times when you feel that you are not improving and dare I say days when we feel like giving up. Anabel and I have had these moments. We have both been able to encourage each other at those difficult moments. When we speak we have a lot of fun, and that is important because it makes learning more enjoyable. We keep each other going and focused. Anabel and I have an amazing strong bond now, and I can’t imagine a day without speaking with her. We have connected in a way I would never have thought possible, so much so that I can say she is my best friend. It’s an amazing feeling to have such a close friendship even when we live miles away from each other. Distance is no barrier for our learning or for our friendship. Hola, mi nombre es Norman y soy de Newcastle, al noreste de Inglaterra. Siempre me ha apasionado el español y la cultura española. He estudiado español durante un par de años en una academia, pero solo aprendí lo básico. Lo que me sorprendió más, fue que no podía hablar o mantener una conversación simple. Después de mucho tiempo, decidí intentarlo de nuevo y entonces cuando algo maravilloso sucedió. Conocí a Anabel. Anabel es de Córdoba, al sur de España y me está ayudando a hacer mi sueño realidad. Mi sueño es ser capaz de hablar español fluido como un nativo, aprender más sobre la cultura, ser parte de esta y por supuesto conocer a Anabel en persona. Gracias a ella estoy a punto de conseguir mis objetivos. Desde que empezamos hablando, noté un gran progreso cada día y ha sido una experiencia increíble ver como el inglés de Anabel ha mejorado  rápidamente. Aprendemos mucho el uno del otro con este método, incluso de nuestros propios errores. Estamos intentando aprender de un modo mas natural, parecido a la forma en que aprendemos nuestra lengua materna.
Aprender otra lengua es un proceso duro,  ya que requiere de mucho tiempo y dedicación. Hay días en que sientes que nunca lo conseguirás, hay veces que sientes que no estás mejorando y días en que te dan ganas de tirar la toalla. Anabel y yo hemos tenido esos momentos. Ambos hemos sido capaces de animarnos el uno al otro en esos momentos difíciles. Cuando hablamos, lo pasamos muy bien y eso es muy importante porque hace que el aprendizaje sea mas divertido. Ambos nos apoyamos y nos motivamos. Anabel y yo tenemos una gran conexión ahora y no puedo imaginar un solo día sin hablar con ella. Hemos conectado de una forma que jamás hubiese pensado que sería posible, tanto que podría decir que ella es mi mejor amiga. Tener una amistad tan cercana es un sentimiento increible, incluso cuando vivimos tan lejos uno del otro ya que la distancia no es una barrera para nuestro aprendizaje o nuestra amistad. Espero que nuestra historia y nuestro recorrido te inspire y te ayude con el tuyo personal. Mi viaje con Anabel estos días ha sido una experiencia increíble y estoy seguro de que tendremos.
